This is the first non-remix DJ Linux CD. For those of you
who don't know (and most people don't which is WHY I titled it what I
did), the Geary Act was an extension of the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882.
The Geary Act required Chinese living in the United States to carry a
certificate of residence, without which they were subject to deportation
or imprisonment and a year of hard labor. It denied bail to Chinese and
prohibited them from appearing as witnesses in court. It effectively made
it possible to retroactively take away the citizenship of a U.S. citizen
and, of course all the rights of citizenship. The course of U.S. action
since Bush got installed in 2000 has been mind-boggling and humiliating
and I found, with hindsight that I'd made an anti-war and anti-Bush CD.
It was meant to come out last October and I was bummed when it was delayed
because I thought both Bush and the war would be gone. I'm even more bummed
that the CD is even more relevant than when I made it. Like everything
I do, it's a bit on the psychedelic side. A lot of the found speech is
actually from news records from 1965 and they're oddly prescient for 2004.
Scary. Anyway, I really like doing the Linux stuff. I'll never be Terminator
X but a boy can dream can't he?
